Per Darren Dreger of TSN (and now confirmed by the Wings), the Red Wings have made their first trade deadline move.

Detroit has traded Nick Jensen to Washington.

In return, the Wings receive defenseman Madison Bowey and a second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Jensen, 28, was the Red Wings’ fifth-round pick in 2009. He has played in 190 NHL games with Detroit, logging 43 career points and 56 penalty minutes.

Bowey was a second-round pick, No. 53 overall, of the Capitals in 2013. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, the blueliner has played in 84 career NHL games, where he has recorded 18 total points and played to an even plus/minus.

He played for Kelowna of the Western Hockey League before making the jump to the professional ranks in 2015-16.

In his first full pro season – and only exclusively in the AHL – the 6-foot-2, 198-pound defenseman recorded 29 points in 70 games.

In 2017-18 and 2018-19, he has split time between the Capitals and the Hershey Bears.

Bowey is signed at $1 million per through 2019-2020.
