Wolverines’ Hayden Lavigne named Big Ten First Star of the Week

By @StefanKubus –

After the Wolverines swept No. 1 Notre Dame in a home-and-home series this past weekend, the man who stopped a combined 69 shots to go 2-0 earned the Big Ten’s First Star of the Week honor.

Sophomore Hayden Lavigne allowed two goals on 36 shots in Friday’s 4-2 win over the Irish on the road before shutting out the nation’s top team at Yost on Sunday, a 1-0 final.

For Lavigne, it marked his third shutout of the season to complement his .912 save percentage and 2.61 goals-against average. His record improved to 12-9-3, as Michigan moved up to No. 13 in the country and No. 11 in the PairWise.
