Quick hits

The season just ended, but here’s an idea of how the Grand Rapids Griffins could look next year, led by a strong, veteran core.

The Montreal Canadiens have hired former Detroit Red Wing Martin Lapointe as director of player development. Lapointe, of course, was a member of the ’97 and ’98 Stanley Cup victories with Detroit.

Highlight reel

It’s almost hockey school season time. You should train like these guys.

Outside the Mitten

Amongst a star-studded cast, Joshua Jackson, a.k.a. Charlie Conway from the Mighty Ducks series, will be making an appearance at the NHL Awards (Wed., June 20 at 7 p.m. EST) to present an award.

The Los Angeles Kings have received plenty of praise for their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, but it’s always a little more special when you hear some from The Great One. When asked about the Kings’ triumph, Wayne Gretzky told TSN on Tuesday that “it is a great day for hockey.” Gretzky was a part of the 1993 Kings club that fell short in the Stanley Cup Final to the Montreal Canadiens.

As we approach the 2012 NHL Entry Draft next week, TSN featured Rochester native Jacob Trouba in a short video, profiling the University of Michigan commit.
