Red Wings acquire Brendan Perlini from Chicago Blackhawks

By @StefanKubus –

With the Detroit Red Wings currently on an eight-game skid and goals somewhat hard to come by, the Wings have added some depth up front.

It was reported by TSN’s Pierre LeBruin and then confirmed by the team that Detroit, who ranks 27th overall in goals for, has acquired forward Brendan Perlini from the Chicago Blackhawks. West Bloomfield native Alec Regula heads to Chicago in the swap.

Perlini, 23, has only appeared on one game this season for Chicago after posting 12 goals and three assists in 46 games last season. Previously, in three abbreviated seasons with the Arizona Coyotes, Perlini scored a combined 30 goals.

Perlini was also a teammate of Red Wings alternate captain Dylan Larkin in youth hockey, playing for the Belle Tire program. Their team featured the likes of Larkin, Perlini, Kyle Connor, Josh Jacobs, Zach Werenski, Austin Kamer, Damian Chrcek, Aaron Haydon and Alex Nedeljkovic at different times during their formative years.
