Griffins re-sign forwards Dominik Shine, Turner Elson

The Grand Rapids Griffins are keeping a Michigan native at home for a while longer.

The team announced Monday that it has re-signed Pinckney native and Northern Michigan alum Dominik Shine, as well as fellow forward Turner Elson.

Shine, 25, posted 16 points in 58 games last season for the Griffins in his first full pro season after being signed as a free agent out of Northern Michigan.

During his time with the Wildcats, Shine recorded 97 points in four seasons.

Also 25, Elson posted 21 points in 57 games for Grand Rapids last season after coming over from the Colorado Avalanche organization.

The Griffins will will kick off the home portion of their 2018-19 season on Friday, Oct. 12 at Van Andel Arena, led by new head coach Ben Simon.
