Spartans record road sweep of No. 8 Cornell

By @MichaelCaples –

It was a good weekend for Michigan State in Ithaca, N.Y.

The Spartans went on their first road trip of the 2018-19 campaign to take on No. 8 Cornell, and they’re coming home with a pair of early-season road wins.

Saturday’s 4-3 win sealed the deal for the weekend sweep, as all three of the Spartans’ KHL line members – Patrick Khodorenko, Taro Hirose and Mitch Lewandowski – found the back of the net, along with Logan Lambdin.

John Lethemon made 36 saves between the pipes for MSU, recording his third win of the season and second in as many nights.

Michigan State is now 3-1-0 on the season.

The Spartans were following up a 5-2 win from Friday; in that game, Lethemon turned aside 32 shots, while Hirose, Sam Saliba, Dennis Cesana, Brody Stevens and Cody Milan all scored for the Green and White.
