OHL announces 2017-18 season openers

The full Ontario Hockey League schedule will arrive on June 6, but for now, everybody can mark the home openers on their schedule.

The league announced the home openers for all 20 member teams today, with the 2017-18 OHL season officially starting on Thursday, Sept. 21 with three games.

Saginaw will be one of the six teams participating in Opening Night; the Spirit get to take on the defending Memorial Cup champion Spitfires in Windsor.

The Spirit’s first home game will be on Saturday, Sept. 23 against the London Knights.

Meanwhile, the Flint Firebirds serve as the guest team for two home openers – Kitchener on Friday, Sept. 22 and Owen Sound on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Saginaw kicks off the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Sept. 30 against the Ottawa 67s.
