The Big Ten announced their stars of the week today, and two of the three have Michigan ties.

The conference’s first star of the week went to Wolverines netminder and Holland native Zach Nagelvoort, while the third star went to Minnesota defenseman Ben Marshall, a Detroit Red Wings draft pick.

Nagelvoort, a Edmonton Oilers draft pick, recorded a pair of wins for the Wolverines over the weekend, stopping 25 shots in a 3-2 win on Friday and 24 in a 6-0 shutout on Saturday. He recorded a .961 save percentage and a 1.04 goals-against average over the weekend.

It was Michigan’s first shutout of the season, and Nagelvoort also recorded his first career point when he recorded an assist – the first Wolverines’ netminder to do so since Shawn Hunwick in 2011.

Marshall, a seventh-round pick by the Wings in 2010, scored in Minnesota’s 6-2 win over Boston College Friday, and then picked up two assists in their 3-2 loss to Northeastern on Saturday.

The Minnesota defenseman is serving as an assistant captain for the Gophers this year; last season, he recorded 18 points and led the team with 66 blocked shots.
