Slubowski named NCHC goalie of the week

After stopping 56-of-57 shots faced during the Shillelagh Tournament in South Bend over the weekend, Western Michigan goaltender Frank Slubowski has been named NCHC’s goaltender of the week.

The British Columbia native also earned NCHC’s goaltender of the week award for his play in the Brice Alaska Goal Rush tournament in October.

The junior helped the Broncos go 1-0-1 against Northeastern and Alabama-Huntsville, including making a game-high 32 saves against Northeastern on Friday.

Slubowski recorded his eighth career shutout on Saturday against Alabama-Huntsville stopping all 24 of the shots that came his way.

North Dakota comes to Kalamazoo to face-off against Western Michigan on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m at Lawson Ice Arena.  Friday’s game will be broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network
