St. Clair native C.J. Motte backstopped his Ferris State Bulldogs squad to a win and a tie on the road last weekend, and he’s getting recognized for his efforts.

The junior netminder didn’t give up a single even-strength goal in two outings over the weekend, helping his FSU club reach an 11-0-2 season record. Over the weekend, he recorded a series 0.96 goals-against average, stopping 55 of the 57 shots he faced. He didn’t allow a goal in five different periods.

Motte recorded 32 saves in the Bulldogs’ 4-1 win over the NMU Wildcats Friday, then 23 more in the overtime tie on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Michigan Tech freshman defenseman Shane Hanna picked up league honors, as well. The Huskies’ freshman defenseman was named rookie of the week after scoring his first two collegiate goals and recording three total points in a pair of road wins over Alaska last weekend.
