Shaved Ice – May 29

Tonight’s the night.

It all comes down to this. Despite holding a 3-1 series lead, the Red Wings will take on the Chicago Blackhawks in a winner-take-all Game 7 tonight. It is the last time the two Original Six rivals will meet in a round other than the Stanley Cup Final for the foreseeable future – couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate what could be their last playoff match-up for quite a while than with a Game 7.

Here’s what Mike Babcock had to say about the Wings’ last game, which was really a lot of talking about what’s coming up tonight.

The Griffins are in Oklahoma City tonight, as they try to regain control of their Western Conference Finals match-up against the Barons. Grand Rapids won Game 1 by a 2-1 score last Friday, but then lost Game 2 the following night. Games 3, 4 and 5 all take place down south.

Get fired up.

The winner of the Red Wings vs. Blackhawks series will take on the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals. The defending Stanley Cup champs won their Game 7 showdown with the Sharks last night by a score of 2-1.

The two goals on the scoresheet for the Kings came courtesy of former Plymouth Whalers star Justin Williams. He’s our Michi-gamer of the night for another clutch Game 7 performance. See both of his goals below.

Check out this infographic made by MiHockey’s Stefan Kubus to get you ready for tonight’s game.

I think there’s a big game tonight.
