Shaved Ice – Jan. 3

What a win by Team USA…

For those of you who woke up way too early this morning – congrats, you made the right choice. Team USA impressed against their main rival, as they kept the high-powered Canadian offense contained en route to a 5-1 win. The Americans will take on Sweden, who beat Russia in a shootout earlier today, in the championship game on Saturday.

We picked two players from the Team USA win to be our Michi-gamers today – click here to see who gets the nod.

New Hudson native Kyle Lawson, a former NTDP and Notre Dame player, was named the new director of education and recruitment for College Hockey, Inc. today. Lawson will work out of the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Drew Miller’s team in Scotland has announced that the Red Wings forward is returning to the States in hopes that the lockout is coming to an end.

Washington, Mich., native Jake Theut with the Dominik Hasek approach to goaltending…do you think goalies should be allowed to get away with this? Love to see some comments on it.

As we mentioned earlier, host country Russia was eliminated from the World Juniors by Sweden today in a shootout.

At least there’s lots of talking going on right now – maybe this lockout really will come to an end shortly.

Bob McKenzie says there’s no excuse for Team Canada losing today. You’re right, there’s no excuses – they were just outplayed.

Teemu Selanne thinks the lockout will end on Monday. Considering this is, what, the 10th lockout he’s went through, perhaps we should believe him. Experience counts, right?

Darren Eliot’s latest ‘Special DElivery‘ is posted – the MiHockey columnist shares the most influential people in his hockey life to go along with our Top 50 Most Influential list.

See everybody tomorrow.
