Northern Michigan’s Matt Thurber named CCHA Player of the Month

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that Northern Michigan senior forward today has been chosen as January’s Warrior CCHA Player of the Month.

Thurber, a native of Beaver Dam, Wis., played a crucial role in the Wildcats’ 5-2-3 record through the month of January. The senior leader recorded nine assists, along with two goals, to lead the league with 11 points over the month span. Thurber had points in seven of the Wildcats’ eight games, while recording a power-play goal and a +6 rating.

Special mentions for the Warrior CCHA Player of the Month award included:

  • Bowling Green sophomore forward Ryan Carpenter
  • Ferris State senior forward Travis Ouellette
  • Lake Superior senior forward Domenic Monardo
  • Miami freshman defenseman Matthew Caito
