Shaved Ice – December 13

One day away from Friday. It’s about time.

Red Wings prospect Riley Sheahan pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .17 or more, according to a report by the Free Press today. Charges stemming from him having Brendan Smith’s ID and driving the wrong way on a one-way street were dismissed. Hope this gets a talented prospect to clean up his act.

Today’s Michi-gamer nod goes to former Whaler and NTDP alum J.T. Miller for scoring the game-winner in an AHL contest last night.

The Joe will feature four high school hockey games next week – we’re working out the plans to be down there for all of them. We’ve got the four match-ups, and information on how you can help one of the schools receive Red Wings-like coverage during their game.

USA Hockey has upheld a lifetime ban given out by MAHA to one of its former members. Read more about that one right here. We’ll also have more news on that tomorrow…hint, hint…

Griffins coach Jeff Blashill talks about how much fun his close-knit team has been having this year.

Mike Eurzione is selling some of his belongings. Nothing significant, only the jersey he wore during the ‘Miracle’ game, the sweatsuit he wore on the podium when he accepted his gold medal, the stick he used to score the game-winner against the Soviets…you know, stuff that won’t make him much money from hockey enthusiasts with big wallets.

Speaking of which, if anybody wants to donate about $1 million, we would love to have the jersey in the MiHockey offices. Just throwing it out there. Contact us on Facebook or Twitter if you would like to make a donation.

They’re trying mediators again…according to TSN, the NHLPA bosses are meeting with a federal mediator, who will decide if the two sides are close enough on their issues to have a meeting together and discuss things.

If the lockout goes past Christmas, Saku Koivu is going back to Finland to play hockey.

Mark Cuban had something to say about the NHL lockout, and it’s certainly worth hearing him out. Would love to have somebody like that – a passionate fan turned owner – step in and fix all the broken things in the NHL.

Just something we posted on Twitter and Instagram this morning. Follow us – MiHockeyNow on both social media networks – for hockey photos almost every single day.

See everybody tomorrow.
