Shaved Ice – Dec. 15

Hello out there, we’re on the air…

Am I the only one getting that stuck in my head repeatedly because of the new Winter Classic commercial?

Quick hits

Tomas Tatar is using Twitter the way he should be – I don’t have to wait for an official press release to report that he’s been called up to Detroit. The talented young forward tweeted “Called up.:) #RedWings” at roughly 7 a.m. this morning. Don’t know if that means he’s certainly playing tomorrow in Nashville, or if it means someone else is hurt (Pavel Datsyuk crash awkwardly into the boards on Tuesday but returned to the game). We’ll do our best to keep you posted.

The Canadian roster is set for the World Juniors team, and there’s certainly some local flavor to it. Plymouth goaltender Scott Wedgewood and Saginaw defenseman Jamie Oleksiak will be playing for Team Canada later this month.

Highlight reel

Patrick Kane may have the fastest hands in hockey.

Outside the Mitten

Tim Thomas continues to stand on his head for the Boston Bruins. Yet again, he’s our Michi-gamer of the night. He’s won 12 of his last 13 games, and he’s not showing any signs of slowing down at age 37.

I want to hang out with these guys, seems like they know what’s a priority in life. Click on this link to read about how some guys rigged up a fire hydrant to make their own outdoor rink in Chicago. Fine them? I say give ’em some new skates for the genius idea.

Next up

I can only imagine that it will be about hockey.
