We’re in the closing stages of the big ‘High School Preview’ edition of the magazine – I think you’re all going to like it. A special ‘HS Captains’ slideshow will be up online by the end of the week – artistic touches done by yours truly – and previews for the vast majority of the schools in the state.

Western Michigan had another rare Tuesday night game with Notre Dame last night. Regulation didn’t settle anything, but the No. 12 Broncos prevailed in the shootout to beat the No. 2 team in the nation.

In a heroic but probably pointless move, I have tried to update you on the NHL standings, but they change every single day, so it might not be worth it. Pittsburgh leads in the East, with the surprising Maple Leafs just one point behind them. In the West, another surprising team, Minnesota, is tied with Chicago for the conference lead. The Wings sit in eighth place in the Western Conference.
