Evgeny Svechnikov undergoes knee surgery; out five-six months

The Detroit Red Wings announced today that they will be without one of their top prospects for the foreseeable future.

Evgeny Svechnikov has underwent knee surgery, and he will be out five-to-six months, per the team’s release.

Svechnikov, 21, was the Wings’ first-round pick in 2015. He played in 14 games with the big club last year, recording two goals and two assists in the timeframe.

In two years with the Griffins, he has racked up 74 points.
