Alec Regula to join Griffins for postseason

By @MichaelCaples –

West Bloomfield native Alec Regula may be playing a few games in his home state for once.

The Red Wings draft pick and London Knights defenseman has signed an amateur tryout deal with the Grand Rapids Griffins to join Detroit’s AHL affiliate for the rest of the postseason.

The 18-year-old blueliner just wrapped up his second season with the Knights, where he recorded 39 points and played to a +32 rating.

The Griffins host their first playoff game of the 2019 AHL Playoffs tonight at Van Andel Arena for Game 3 of their first-round battle with Chicago.
