PHOTOS: Wolverines win Night 1 of rematch weekend with No. 6 Notre Dame

The No. 14 Michigan Wolverines welcomed a familiar foe to Yost Ice Arena Friday night, and they made sure the first of the two-game weekend was an uncomfortable one for their guests. Mel Pearson’s squad recorded a 2-1 win over No. 6 Notre Dame – the team that beat them at the Frozen Four last April – to open Big Ten play. Jake Slaker and Nick Pastujov scored second-period goals to erase an early Fighting Irish lead, while freshman Strauss Mann made 26 saves for the biggest win of his budding NCAA career.
