Red Wings sign goaltender Matej Machovsky

The Red Wings announced that they have added a goaltender to their organization.

Detroit has signed free-agent goaltender Matej Machovsky to a one-year contract in 2017-18.

Machovsky has spent the last four years playing in the Czech Republic’s top professional league for HC Plzen. He recorded a 94-84-0 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.

The 23-year-old netminder, a native of Opava Czech Republic, played three seasons with the OHL’s Brampton Battalion and Guelph Storm.
