Tyler Irvine named Hockey East rookie of the week for second time

For the second time this season, Tyler Irvine has received a big award from his college hockey conference.

Hockey East named the Merrimack forward and Livonia native its rookie of the week for the second time this season, it was announced today.

Irvine set up the game-winning goal then scored the insurance marker in Merrimack’s 4-2 victory against then-No. 12 Notre Dame on Saturday night.

It was Irvine’s second multi-point outing of the season, and he finished +2 on the night.

He received the same award on Nov. 28.

Irvine, a Livonia Stevenson and Muskegon Lumberjacks alum, is tied for fourth in team scoring with nine total points this season.
