They haven’t lost a game yet, and now, that means quite a substantial record for the Metro Jets.

The Fraser-based NA3HL franchise has set a new USA Hockey Tier III record for consecutive wins with their 35-0-0 record to start the season after a 5-1 win Sunday afternoon.

“It’s definitely special,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville in a release. “For anyone who’s donned a Jets jersey and been a part of this organization, it obviously speaks volumes. Everyone who’s been involved in this, it’s been fun, and these players, their names are etched in history. From the beginning of the year, I think the way they’ve approached each week and bought into the process of how we prepare, this is a reflection of them all getting together to be a part of this.

“I’m proud of them, but we obviously have a bigger goal in mind, but we’ll enjoy this right now.”

The Jets have been led by Swedish import Mathias Tellstrom, who has posted 50 points in 35 games, along with an impressive +47 rating. Louis Boudon, a native of France, is one point behind with 49 on the season.

From there, it’s Michigan natives filling up the scoresheet – captain Graham Day (Rochester) has 45, Chas Distelrath (Hartland) has 37, Cam Schwartz (Warren) has 34, Chase Sereno (Waterford) also has 34 and Griffin Sawyer (Trenton) has 31.

Goaltender Andrew Kormos (Milford) has a record of 17-0-0 with a 0.77 goals-against average and .968 save percentage. His partner between the pipes, Jake Gwillim (Swartz Creek), holds a 15-0-0 mark himself, along with a 1.51 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage.

“How many kids can say they’ve ever been on a team like this?” said assistant coach Randy Wilson. “The fact that everybody has contributed all the way down the line, I think that’s the important part. This group of guys – this is something no one will ever take away from them.”
