Four Michigan natives selected for 2017 U.S. Men’s National University Team

Today, USA Hockey announced its roster for the U.S. Men’s National University Team that will represent the Red, White and Blue in Kazakhstan later this month.

The 22-man squad, led by White Lake native Sean Hogan, will play in the 2017 Winter World University Games from Jan. 28 through Feb. 8 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

“This is a very experienced group,” said Hogan, head coach of the 2017 U.S. Men’s National University Team. “We’re excited to bring this team to Kazakhstan to represent our country this month at the Winter World University Games.”

The Michigan natives selected for the team are:

Ryan Urso – D – University of Michigan Dearborn – Livonia native

Gavin Burbach – F – Robert Morris University (Ill.) – Newberry native

Tyler Groat – F – University of Michigan Dearborn – Wyandotte native

Jordan Simmonds – F – Davenport University – Howell native

Sean Hogan – Head coach – White Lake native
