PLYMOUTH – This Saturday, hockey fans in Metro Detroit will have a chance to see the best rivalry the women’s game has to offer.

Team USA and Team Canada will do battle at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth at 4:30 p.m.

The game, part of the Team USA Winter Champions Series, will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Network live, with Gord Miller on play-by-play duties, Olympic gold-medalist A.J. Mleczko-Griswold providing color commentary and Leila Rahimi acting as the rinkside reporter.

“I want to say it’s the biggest rivalry in women’s ice hockey,” said Farmington native Megan Keller, expected to be one of the women chosen to represent Team USA. “Any time you play Canada, it’s a huge rivalry and everybody always comes out harder and there’s a lot more energy, especially in your own country. There’s that extra effort to come home with a win.”

All fans in attendance will receive a free American flag, and they will receive an exclusive advance purchase and discounted ticket offer for the upcoming 2017 IIHF Women’s World Championship, which will take place at USA Hockey Arena in April.

Northville High School senior Carly Bins will sing both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems prior to puck drop, with flag bearers from area youth hockey programs taking part in the pre-game ceremony, as well.

Each intermission will feature girls’ players at the 8U and 10U levels of play competing in cross-ice games.
