The injuries continue to mount for the Red Wings.

Per multiple reports, goaltender Jimmy Howard will miss four-to-six weeks with a MCL sprain.

Detroit lost Howard in Tuesday’s game against Tampa Bay after Red Wings defenseman Nick Jensen and Lightning forward Erik Condra crashed into him. Howard was unable to put any pressure on his right leg when being helped off the ice. He was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, and Northern Michigan alum Jared Coreau was recalled to backup Petr Mrazek.

Howard has been stellar for the Red Wings this season, doing his job to keep the puck out of the net as much as possible despite his team’s inability to score for him.

The 32-year-old netminder owns a sparkling 1.96 goals against average and .934 save percentage to go along with a 5-7-1 record.
