A young member of the tightly-knit hockey community is in need of support.

Joey Gangola, a 15-year-old sophomore at De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren and player for the U16A Rochester Rattlers, was recently diagnosed with Acute Childhood Leukemia.

Now, friends, family and others in the hockey community are coming together to support both Joey and the Gangola family with what else but a hockey game in his honor.

A JoeyStrong Leukemia Game will be held at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester on Friday, Dec. 30 at 8 p.m.

Admission is free, and donations will be accepted in support of the Childhood Leukemia Foundation of Michigan.
