Red Wings trim roster to 32 ahead of preseason finale

The Red Wings have moved one step closer to their opening-night roster.
Detroit announced Saturday that it has trimmed its team to 32, sending a handful to Grand Rapids and placing four on injured reserve.
Forwards Matt Lorito, Evgeny Svechnikov, Tyler Bertuzzi and defensemen Robbie Russo and Joe Hicketts were all sent down today.
Meanwhile, forwards Tomas Jurco and Tomas Nosek, and defensemen Vili Saarijarvi and Dan Renouf were placed on injured reserve.
Additionally, defenseman Nathan Paetsch, forward Kyle Criscuolo and goaltender Cal Heeter were all released from their professional tryouts.
That brings the Wings’ roster to 19 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders as they close out their preseason with a game against Toronto Saturday night.
