Certainly didn’t take long for Auston Matthews to make his presence felt in the NHL.

Twenty-two minutes into his NHL debut, he already had a hat trick.

After two periods, Matthews had four goals to his name.

His first game isn’t even over yet, and we’re already posting about this, because Matthews has already made NHL history – he’s the first player to ever score four goals in his debut.

First. Ever.

The USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program alum – he played in Ann Arbor from 2013-15 – has thrived in his first game with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team that won the draft lottery last spring to be able to select him No. 1 overall.
