The Red Wings have locked up a key forward and depth defenseman for the foreseeable future.

Riley Sheahan has signed a two-year extension, reportedly worth $2.075 million per season, while the Wings have inked defenseman Brian Lashoff a one-year extension. Both players were restricted free agents.

The 24-year-old Sheahan recorded 25 points and a career-high 14 goals in 81 games this past season. The Notre Dame product and former first-round draft pick in 2010 has amassed 36 goals and 85 points in 204 career NHL games. Sheahan carried a $1.05 million cap hit in 2015-16.

Lashoff, 25, potted 16 points in 74 regular-season games from the blue line with Grand Rapids in 2015-16, adding three points in nine playoff games. Lashoff was originally signed by Detroit as a free agent in 2008.
