The Red Wings will be honoring Detroit’s hockey history inside their new home, and they’re asking for help in collecting items of relevance.

Olympia Entertainment and the Detroit Red Wings are formally inviting fans to donate or loan items that are part of Detroit hockey, music and entertainment heritage to be used in displays at the new Little Caesars Arena.

More info:

The donated or loaned items may come from any of the Olympia Entertainment and Detroit Red Wings venues, including Joe Louis Arena, Olympia Stadium, Border City Arena in Windsor, Fox Theatre and others. These items will be exhibited with items that are presently on display at Joe Louis Arena, as well as iconic objects and displays from Joe Louis Arena itself. Items that have never been seen outside our archives area will also be displayed for the first time.

“We’re excited to enlist our fans and give them an opportunity to be a part of Little Caesars Arena. Historical items will be used to create extraordinary features and displays, allowing us to look back and celebrate the history of the Red Wings, as well as the tradition of great music and entertainment that helped shape the culture of Detroit,” said Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Olympia Entertainment.

Items that may be of great public interest include:

Jerseys, uniforms, costumes, clothing (partial/complete)
Hockey or hockey-related equipment
Musical instruments and equipment
Photos, posters, documents (books, magazines, news articles)
Audio or video recordings
Game and event Items (tickets, playbills, programs, patches)
Other memorabilia
“We’re looking to integrate heritage throughout the building, and the fans will play a huge role in the storytelling by sharing great moments, milestones, people, places and things that have defined Red Wings history, or the history of music and entertainment in the city,” said Marcel Parent, Director of Curation and Content Activation for Olympia Entertainment.
