Moments after the Big Ten announced that Zach Werenski was named defensive player of the year, the Wolverines’ coach received similiar recognition.

Red Berenson was named the Big Ten coach of the year today – the first time he has won the award.

Berenson, 76, led Michigan to a 22-7-5 overall record this season, and a 12-5-3-2 B1G season.
