USA Hockey announced two new members for their American Development Model staff today, and one of them is a Michigan native selected for a brand-new role.

Phil Osaer, a Livonia native and Ferris State alum, will be the ADM manager of youth goaltending programs, a role in which he “will help lead the development of netminders across the country, utilizing age-appropriate training and competition curriculum” per the USAH press release.

Osaer worked as the director of hockey operations for Michigan State last season, and he worked as the goaltending director and hockey instructor for Suburban Hockey Schools from 2003-2012.

He has been a USA Hockey Level 4-certified coach since 2004, and has worked for various USA Hockey select festivals and elite goaltending camps. Osaer was also part of the coaching staff for the U.S. Select Teams at the 2014 U17 Five Nations Tournament and 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Osaer played goaltender for FSU from 1998-2001, earning All-CCHA and team MVP honors in 2001. The St. Louis Blues draftee went on to play 12 seasons of professional hockey, including call-ups with the Rangers and Panthers. He also won a Norwegian championship in 2011.
