The Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche made it official with a press conference Monday afternoon. The two storied rivals will battle outdoors at Coors Field – home of the MLB’s Colorado Rockies – in the Mile High City on Saturday, Feb. 27.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the Wings/Avs tilt will put the league over the one million mark for total attendance in Stadium Series games. Kris Draper, special assistant to general manager Ken Holland, said he’s looking forward to the alumni game.

“For me and the Detroit Red Wings organization, we’re absolutely thrilled to be a part of this event,” Kris Draper said at the event. “The outdoor game is something that I know when I played in 2009, I never forgot about it. It’s truly special and an honor to do that and to add an alumni game and especially the alumni that we have and what we went through in 1996 to 2002, I guess I could say it’s going to be interesting to see how that game is going to play out.”

Additionally, the Avalanche unveiled their jersey for the game. Detroit did not unveil their own sweater, however.
