Team Metro West wins State Games of Michigan high school crown

Team Metro West emerged from a hockey-filled weekend in Grand Rapids with the bragging rights.

The squad, comprised of players from Walled Lake, Novi, Hartland, Livonia, Farmington, Lakeland and Salem, defeated Team Metro South 2-1 in the State Games of Michigan high school division title game yesterday.

The Metro West squad defeated Team South 5-3 on Thursday, Team North 5-2 on Friday and Team Metro North 3-2 on Saturday in the preliminary round. Later in the day on Saturday, they beat Team West 4-2 in the semifinals.

Team West beat Team North 8-7 in overtime to capture the bronze medal.
