‘The Cold War’ makes No. 11 on NHL’s Top Outdoor Moments countdown

The National Hockey League is counting down their ‘Top Outdoor Moments’ as they lead into the 2015 NHL Winter Classic game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals. It’s an All-Michigan No. 11, as the league salutes The Cold War game, held in East Lansing on Oct. 6, 2001. Michigan and Michigan State kicked off their 2001-02 seasons with a historic outdoor contest at Spartan Stadium, jumpstarting the outdoor hockey craze that has spread throughout the hockey world.
