This Saturday, aspiring hockey players across the country will get to experience the game for the first time.

USA Hockey’s ‘Try Hockey For Free Day’ takes place on Nov. 8, offering players ages 4-9 the chance to try hockey absolutely free. Rinks across Michigan and the entire United States will have blocks of ice-time set aside to let kids borrow equipment and give hockey a try for the first time, with coaches and supporters right there on the ice with them.

Nearly 500 sites throughout the country will be hosting ‘Try Hockey For Free’ events. USA Hockey has a webpage that allows you to quickly search for participating ice arenas in your area – click here to find a nearby rink with a ‘Try Hockey’ program this Saturday.

It’s the fifth season USA Hockey has officially held coast-to-coast ‘Try Hockey For Free’ days. The event, presented by Kraft, has introduced more than 70,000 kids to the game, including a record 28,446 in 2013-14. ‘Try Hockey For Free Day’ is part of Come Play Hockey Month, a component of the NHL’s Hockey is for Everyone program, which helps children of all backgrounds experience the game.
