Six Michigan natives receive invites to 2014 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival

USA Hockey announced the 69 players invited to their national women’s hockey festival today, and six of them hail from Michigan.

Three defensemen and three forwards will make up the Michigan contingent of players who will be in Lake Placid, N.Y., from August 12-16 for the 2014 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival. The players will be competing for spots on the 22-player roster for a pair of series played against rival Canada from August 21-24 in Calgary, Alberta. There will an under-18 team and a 22-and-under team selected from the participants.

Here are the Michigan natives selected for the festival:

Defensemen

Megan Keller – 5’10”, 150 lbs – L – Farmington, Mich. – Honeybaked

Kari Schmitt – 5’11”, 170 lbs – L – Canton, Mich. – Ohio State (WCHA)

Sara Schmitt – 5’11”, 170 lbs – L – Canton, Mich. – Ohio State (WCHA)

 

Forwards

Andie Anastos – 5’8”, 150 lbs – R – Farmington Hills, Mich. – Boston College (HEA)

Shiann Darkangelo – 5’9”, 145 lbs – L – Brighton, Mich. – Quinnipiac (ECACH)

Abby Roque – 5’6”, 150 lbs – R – Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. – Sault Area High School (MHSAA)
