Daavettila named ECHL player of the month

The ECHL announced today that Howell native Trent Daavettila has been named their player of the month for December.

The CCM ECHL Player of the Month award goes to the Finlandia University alum after he recorded seven goals and 14 assists, along with a +8 rating, in 13 games over the course of December with his Colorado Eagles club.

On the season, Daavettila has 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 30 games, with a +17 rating.

Daavettila is in his second season with the Eagles, after spending four seasons with the Kalamazoo Wings. He has appeared in 19 AHL contests during his professional career, as well, splitting time with the Adirondack Phantoms, Grand Rapids Griffins, St. John’s IceCaps and Chicago Wolves.

Prior to beginning his pro career with the Flint Generals of the IHL, Daavettila played three seasons with the Portage Lake Pioneers of the Great Lakes Hockey League, recording 99 points in 45 games.
