Red Wings players, alumni to attend Sorisho benefit

The Red Wings announced today that a large contingent from the Original Six club will be on hand for the Matt Sorisho fundraiser event at Compuware Arena tomorrow night.

Current Red Wings Danny DeKeyser, Jimmy Howard, Mikael Samuelsson and Stephen Weiss will be at the event, as will coach Mike Babcock and Detroit alumni Ted Lindsay, Kris Draper, Chris Osgood and Kirk Maltby.

The event, which will raise money for medical bills, home modification and mobility equipment expenses for the injured Catholic Central senior, will take place tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Plymouth.

The Red Wings will also be auctioning off the following items:

  • Opportunity for two to attend the Winter Classic and the Red Wings practice at Michigan Stadium on Dec. 31
  • Dinner at Andiamo with Ken Holland, Mike Babcock, Chris Chelios, Kris Draper and Ken Holland
  • Two lower-bowl tickets to Nick Lidstrom Night on Mar. 6
  • Four tickets to a Red Wings home game with a post-game locker room tour and meet and greet with Mike Babcock
  • 2013-14 team-signed Winter Classic jersey
  • Six players’ game-used, team-signed hockey sticks
