The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced their players of the week today, and a Western Michigan Bronco was on the list.

Defenseman Jordan Oesterle, a junior with the WMU program, was named the league’s ‘Defenseman of the Week’ after helping the Broncos sweep Colorado College this past weekend.

Oesterle, a Dearborn Heights native, had a goal and an assist during the weekend series, but more importantly, he helped shut down the opposition. With his help, the Broncos posted a perfect 10-for-10 on penalty-kill situations. Oesterle also blocked three shots and finished with a +3 rating.

The goal was important, too; Oesterle scored the game-tying goal for the Broncos on Friday.

The Broncos held the Tigers to just three goals on the weekend.
