Holland native Zach Nagelvoort had a big weekend for the Wolverines, and his new conference honored him in their stars of the week.

Nagelvoort, a freshman goaltender at the University of Michigan, was named the Big Ten’s Third Star for the week ending Oct. 27.

The 6-foot-2 goaltender stopped 52 shots this weekend en route to a .945 save percentage and 1.51 goals-against average. Those numbers came in games against ranked opponents, as the Wolverines welcomed NO. 13/14 Boston University and No. 18 UMass-Lowell to Yost Ice Arena.

Nagelvoort stopped 18 shots in the Wolverines’ win over BU on Friday, and then stopped 34 the next night.

He currently leads all Big Ten goalies this season in save percentage (.947) and goals-against (1.47).

Last week, freshman forward Tyler Motte was named the second star of the week by the Big Ten; in Week 1, sophomore Andrew Copp took the top spot.

Michigan natives have appeared in each week’s stars selection by the Big Ten.
