Shaved Ice – May 24

What a night at Joe Louis Arena…

The Red Wings shut out the Blackhawks last night by a score of 2-0. That means Detroit now holds a commanding 3-1 series lead, with Game 5 taking place in Chicago tomorrow night.

Or just enjoy those pictures we just posted.

And in other good news surrounding the game, the Red Wings raised $15,029 for the family of fallen Westland firefighter Brian Woehlke, who passed away while battling a Westland fire on May 8, during the game. That’s just…awesome. Way to go, Hockeytown.

The Griffins and the Oklahoma City Barons battle in Game 1 of their Western Conference Final series tonight. Here’s the preview from the Griffins’ official site. We’re going to have a photographer on scene tonight, so we can share some of the excitement with those who aren’t able to get to Van Andel Arena.

Here’s the Griffvision Round 3 preview video.

Patrick Roy is back…kind of. The legendary netminder is returning to the Colorado Avalanche to be their next head coach. Too bad it didn’t happen sooner – the Wings won’t be in the same conference as the Avs when realignment takes place this summer.

The Rangers managed to stay alive by picking up an overtime victory over the Bruins last night.

Despite the loss, we picked Tyler Seguin as our Michi-gamer for Friday, considering he had a goal and a helper in the game.

The Kings took a 3-2 series lead with a 3-0 shutout against the Sharks last night.

Tonight, the attention’s all on the Penguins/Senators game. Pittsburgh has a chance to be the first team to advance to the third round if they can pick up a Game 5 win on home ice.

And Coyotes GM Don Maloney is nearing a contract extension with the Phoenix organization.

Hockey Night In Canada’s Game 4 intro. Nailed it.

Hockey tonight, hockey tomorrow…maybe hockey Monday.
