Shaved Ice – April 18

Rough night for Hockeytown.

The Red Wings fell to the Calgary Flames by a score of 3-2 last night. Judging by the comments we’ve seen on our Facebook page thus far, nobody’s very happy with the erroneous plays that led to two shaky goals for the Flames (see the Highlight Reel section for clips of the game).

Detroit is now on the outside looking in, as far as playoff seeding goes. With five games left, they’re two points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final spot in the West, and the Jackets have won five games in a row.

The Wings’ remaining schedule is:

  • At Vancouver (Saturday, April 20)
  • Vs. Phoenix (Monday, April 22)
  • Vs. Los Angeles (Wednesday, April 24)
  • Vs. Nashville (Thursday, April 25)
  • At Dallas (Saturday, April 27)

In other news, Bloomfield Hills native Andrew Miller, fresh off winning a national title with Yale, has signed with Edmonton.

Here’s the Wings’ highlights…feel free to keep scrolling if you don’t want to see them again.

Remarkable scene at the Bruins’ game last night, as the club paid tribute to those lost and those who helped the city through a terrible tragedy. Here is our national anthem, 18,000 strong.

Yet Ryan Miller played the spoiler role on the night, leading the Sabres to a 3-2 shootout win. He’s our Michi-gamer of the night for his 41-save performance.

Brendan Morrow is fitting right in out in Pittsburgh, and he’s got the Penguins inching closer to the top spot in the East.

The Bruins and the Sabres stood together after last night’s game to salute the crowd in Boston. What a night.

More hockey coming throughout the day.
