Shaved Ice – March 28

Waiting is the hardest part.

Arguably the two best defensemen in Michigan’s college hockey scene have big decisions to make right now. For Western Michigan’s Danny DeKeyser has decided that he’s going pro, but with almost every NHL team courting him, he has to decide which team he wants to play for. Meanwhile, Jacob Trouba could make the jump to the NHL if he wanted to – he’s that good. We’re still waiting for word out of Ann Arbor on whether the freshman sensation will return for a second year of schooling, or if he’s heading out to Winnipeg.

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference released their composite schedule yesterday, revealing a large portion of the Western Michigan Broncos’ schedule, and that they will be in the Great Lakes Invitational next year.

The NTDP announced their first seven commits for 2013-14 – with three Michigan natives making the team.

Danny DeKeyser’s speech at the CCHA Awards show.

And Jacob Trouba’s speech at the same event.

Torey Krug played in his first NHL game of the season yesterday, picking up one assist in their 6-5 shootout loss to Montreal. Last year, he had to make his NHL Debut against the Penguins, then this year, he had to take part in a Bruins/Habs rivalry game. Nothing like easing him in, guys… The former MSU captain had two assists for a while, before they reviewed the tape and took one away.

Mike Cammalleri is our Michi-gamer of the night after leading the Calgary Flames to a win. Cammalleri’s Flames were without captain Jerome Iginla – the superstar forward was a healthy scratch before being traded to the Bruins, wait, I mean, the Penguins. Little bit of confusion there for reporters, before it was settled late last night.

Darren Eliot’s latest ‘Special DElivery’ gives some tips to new (and old) hockey coaches for the spring season.

More coverage throughout the day. That’s how it goes around here.

“- MiHockeyNow & Michigan Hockey Magazine” was in fact a excellent
blog post. However, if it had a lot more photos this would definitely be possibly even more effective.
