Shaved Ice – Feb. 4

Welcome back to work, everybody.

The Wings kicked off their work week by making some moves. Detroit called up Petr Mrazek and Tomas Tatar, while sending Tom McCollum back to Grand Rapids. The Wings also announced that Brendan Smith is going on the injured-reserve list.

Mrazek’s name has remained in the news, because he was just named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week, too.

Harrison Township native Bobby Shea and Wolverines forward Boo Nieves took home weekly CCHA awards today. Speaking of Nieves…he’s also our Michi-gamer from the weekend, after back-to-back big games against the Wolverines’ main rival.

Western Michigan holds the top spot for all Michigan teams in the latest college hockey rankings – see both polls right here.

Mrazek talks to the media at The Joe after the Wings’ practice today.

Ryan Kesler is back on the ice for the Canucks – great to hear that the Michigan native is getting closer to a return.

TSN’s got a breakdown of all the most recent injuries NHL players have sustained – there’s a lot.

Mike Rupp has been traded from the Rangers to the Wild, in exchange for Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri.

Former Ferris State star Chris Kunitz thought he had a hat trick over the weekend – turns out he had four.

Off to Chelsea for a high school hockey showcase.
