Shaved Ice – Feb. 12

Hope everybody’s enjoying their paczkis today. Yum.

Let the Fat Tuesday games begin…

The latest high school hockey rankings are out. Brother Rice takes the top spot in D-1 – see the 29 other teams right here.

Speaking of high school hockey, here’s another photo gallery from the MIHL Prep Showcase out in Trenton.

Today’s Michi-gamer nod goes to Canton native James Wisniewski – the Whalers/Compuware alum set off a scoring spree for the Blue Jackets last night, in a game they eventually won 6-2.

We took a look at the final weekend of the season for the Wayne State Warriors club team; WSU can’t compete in the ACHA playoffs this year because they’re a brand-new team.

Michigan State’s hockey team held their annual skills competition yesterday – Chesterfield native and former Muskegon Lumberjacks star Matt DeBlouw fired a 99-mph slapshot during. Not bad.

Darren Eliot’s latest on the Red Wings suggests that Jordin Tootoo is a telling distraction for a team in the midst of some major changes.

There’s just four days until Warrior Hockey Day in Michigan 2013 begins! Visit our official page for the event – we’re one of the proud presenting sponsors – right here.

Just stumbled onto this Hockey Day in Michigan commercial…nice!

Here is a cat watching hockey. Sounds silly, we know, but it’s pretty awesome, too.

In other news…

Miikka Kiprusoff is out for another two weeks with a sprained MCL.

The Bruins/Bolts game that was postponed due to the terrible weather in Boston will take place on April 25. Wonder if the NHL called MLB to ask for some help on the rain delay.

Speaking of the Bolts, Lightning forward Ryan Malone is out three-to-four weeks after an injury apparently suffered during a pre-game soccer-ball kick-around. Wow.

Markham’s city council will have a vote on whether they have to release all of the documents related to the construction of an NHL-ready building north of Toronto. There are question marks surrounding the deal that was approved, apparently.

Doesn’t have anything to do with Michigan, but who doesn’t enjoy a good goalies-taking-slapshots clip?

See you…later today.
