Jimmy Howard had a nice weekend, eh?

The Red Wings goaltender returned to the crease this weekend after Petr Mrazek helped him to a lengthy break (in hockey-in-February terms, of course). Howard’s time off did him well – he stopped 68 of the 71 shots he faced over the Wings’ back-to-back wins against Edmonton and Los Angeles.

Detroit is now on a three-game winning streak, and they have posted a 6-3-1 record over their last 10 games. That puts them in second place in the Central Division behind only Chicago, a team that still hasn’t lost in regulation. The Wings are also in the fifth spot in the Western Conference.

Jaroslav Halak is returning from IR for the Blues – he was injured in a game against the Wings on Feb. 1. The netminder held a 3-0-0 record with two shutouts before getting shut down by the training staff.

NHL.com says that if the season ended today, Ottawa’s Craig Anderson would win the Vezina. Rinne and Crawford would be the finalists, too. That’s some Central Division love, but where’s Howard on the list, guys?
