CCHA Players of the Week – Dec. 3

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association named Washington, Mich., native Austin Czarnik of the Miami RedHawks their player of the week today.

Here are the league nominations for their weekly honors:

Postgame® Offensive Player of the Week
Austin Czarnik, MIA

Czarnik scored a goal, had two assists and was the Perani Cup second star in 5-2 win at Alaska on Friday. He added two assists and was the Perani Cup third star in a 4-0 win over the Nanooks on Saturday. He finished the weekend +4.
Gladiator® Defenseman of the Week
Matthew Caito, MIA                             
Fr. (Coto de Caza, CA)
Caito had an assist in a 5-2 win over Alaska on Friday and added another assist on Saturday in a 4-0 shutout of the Nanooks. He finished the weekend +2, with six blocks and was part of a RedHawks’ penalty-killing unit that went 15-for-15.
Goaltender of the Week
Brady Hjelle, OSU
Sr. (International Falls, MN)
Hjelle stopped 31 shots, and was the Perani Cup first star, in a 1-0 shutout at Michigan State on Friday. He made 22 saves, and was the Perani Cup first star, in a 3-1 win over the Spartans on Saturday. He finished the weekend with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .981 save percentage.
Gongshow Rookie of the Week
Mario Lucia, ND
F (Plymouth, MN)
Lucia had a goal in a 3-2 win over Lake Superior on Friday and scored twice, and was the Perani Cup second star, in a 6-1 win over the Lakers on Saturday.
