Shaved Ice – September 19

Rumor has it that there’s going to be some changes to this blog soon…

Quick hits

In case you missed it yesterday, we posted our season previews for the Saginaw Spirit and the Ferris State Bulldogs, in keeping with our ‘Hockey Never Stops’ campaign. The two squads joined the Plymouth Whalers as the first three teams covered, with more coming throughout the week.

The Whalers and Spirit both announced some new leadership yesterday. Colin MacDonald will be the latest player to don the ‘C’ for Plymouth, while Connor Carrick, Stefan Noesen, and Tom Wilson will serve as assistant captains. Out in Saginaw, Vincent Trocheck will be the new captain of the Spirit, and Garret Ross, Steven Strong and Eric Locke will wear an ‘A’.

Check out this tweet from Western Michigan’s Brett Beebe about an event going on today:

And in other college hockey news, former Spartan and Beverly Hills native Mike Merrifield has signed with the ECHL champion Florida Everblades.
