Quick hits

From the sounds of it, the Whalers’ acquiring the rights to Connor Carrick was a gamble that has paid off. Chris Peters of The United States of Hockey is reporting that Carrick, a Michigan commit, will not be reporting to Ann Arbor, and instead play in the OHL next season. If the report is indeed true, it will be the third straight season the Wolverines lost a NTDP recruit to the OHL. UPDATE (11:26 a.m.) – Carrick posted on his Twitter account that he is indeed going to play for the Whalers next season.

The Spartans announced new jerseys, and the return of the script “Michigan State” logo yesterday.
